In 2003 Cynthia Leung and David Castellan had the idea to start Soma Chocolatemaker to create great microbatch chocolate from the cacao bean and explore the possibilities of chocolate. Cynthia with an architecture and design background and a natural affinity for identity and packaging design makes ideas into products. David with a 20 year career as a pastry chef in many of Toronto’s great restaurants finds and fixes the machines that make it happen. Together they explore the world of chocolate making in depth. Two retail shops and a freshly opened beautiful factory/store where you can watch all the magic happen.
